Medisoft 17 SP2 Release Notes

Medisoft 17 SP2 Release Notes

The Medisoft 17 Service Pack 2 (SP2) offers many new corrections, improvements, and enhancements to help you manage your practice. Some of the highlights include:

Correction: Final Draft Letter Wizard is not showing the full patient remainder balance.
A problem with patient balances in the Final Draft Letter Wizard has been corrected. If a note had been saved in Final Draft that contained the patient remainder balance field, and that note was then selected during the Letter Wizard to merge with, the amount that appeared on the letter would not show the 0 in the second decimal place.

Example: if a patient has a remainder balance of $50.30, the amount that appears on the letter is $50.3. Or if the balance is $88.00 then the amount appears as $88.
20460 – Correction: Communications Manager--Initial synchronization will not complete for some datasets.

A problem with Communications Manager’s initial synchronization was causing it to stop when it reached certain chart numbers. This has been fixed.

Correction: Visit Series ID is updating to a "['.
The Visit Series ID is updating to "[" if the last ID is a Z, once the visit series reaches the Authorized Number of Visits. Instead, it should become an A if the ID is alphabetic; if it is numeric and the value was 9, it will become a 1. This has been corrected.

Correction: Walkout receipts multiply the number of printed copies.
This service pack corrects an issue with printing walkout Receipts. If the user selected to print one copy, the system would print one copy as expected. However, if the user selected to print two or more copies, the system would print several instead--always more than expected.

Correction: Unable to delete cases.
This service pack corrects a defect in which users were unable to delete cases. This error message would appear "This case record is currently being used in the CASE NUMBER field of the UB04 FORMS FIELDS table and can not be deleted". The code was modified to allow the program to delete cases, along with any UB records attached to it.

Correction: Users not being released.
When running certain maintenance processes, such as File Maintenance or Backup, users would not get released when the program was closed. Then, when users tried to log in, they would receive a notification that they were already logged in. This has been corrected.

Correction: In transaction entry when a payment is applied or deleted, all transactions not color coded are modified.
User code, guarantor paid, and insurance 1 responsible are all updated when a payment is applied to a case with multiple transactions. However, this affects only non-color coded transactions in the list. This has been fixed.

Enhancement: The unified installer should include a Practice Partner utility named PMSI.Utility.CleanAddRemove.exe used to remove ancillaries.
The unified installer now includes a utility for removing ancillary programs. See the details for defect 21576.

Enhancement: The Medisoft Clinical DVD should include the Practice Partner documentation.
The DVD for Medisoft Clinical now includes the documentation for the Practice Partner program. There is now a menu option available on the Autorun window that allows the user to open a folder to see this documentation.

Enhancement: The Medisoft Clinical DVD should include the Practice Partner Growth Plot Files installer.
The Practice Partner 9.5.1 installer will now install 3-97% PLT files used for plotting children's growth charts. If users want to use the 5-95% PLT files, they can run this installer to add the 5-95% files (this does not include the BMI files) and remove the 3-97% files after installing or upgrading to 9.5.1.

Correction: Having BillFlash files with long file names freezes the backup.
This service pack corrects a defect in which long file names for BillFlash files were causing the backup to stop and not finish its process.

Correction: On Demand Superbills printing two copies.
Attempts to print a single copy of a Superbill were resulting in two copies being printed. This has been corrected.

Enhancement: Add Practice Partner 9.5.1 to Medisoft 17 SP2.
Medisoft Clinical 17 Service Pack 2 will install Practice Partner 9.5.1.

Correction: Conversion to Version 17 from 16 deletes the facility NPI values.

This service pack corrects an issue in which the NPI values for facilities were being deleted when the user converted from version 16 to version 17.

Correction: Data fields are not in the same order when creating a new practice and converting practices.
Certain data fields were changing their order during the conversion causing Mediutils, Copy Data Tables to fail. This issue has been corrected. Now, the data fields are in the same position when converting older data, when compared to creating new practices.

Enhancement: The Medisoft Clinical DVD should include the PPConnect installer.
The Medisoft Clinical DVD now includes the installer for PPConnect.

Enhancement: Add the Practice Partner ancillaries to the Medisoft Clinical DVD.
Several new options have been added on a sub-menu of the installer called “Medisoft Clinical Add-Ons.” These include: ePrescribing Templates Growth Charts PP Connect LabCorp Clean Add/Remove
To install these options, insert the DVD and allow the Autorun to start. Click Medisoft Clinical Add-Ons.
Zoom is installed with Practice Partner.

Correction: The unified installer should correctly initialize provider cross-reference files for Medisoft Clinical.
The unified installer has been updated to correctly initialize provider cross-reference files. For upgrades from Practice Partner 9.4.x, the cross reference files are copied in; for new installs or upgrades from Practice Partner 9.5 no files are copied.

Enhancement: Practice Partner Server needs a Force Upgrade mode for migrated servers.
In the case of users who copy their practice partner files (from the P:\ppart directory) to a new computer, certain registry keys and other necessary files will missing from the new computer. To accommodate this situation, the user will now see a Force Upgrade window during installation that will open if the installer detects files in a Ppart folder but cannot find other expected files. Users canchoose Yes if they are performing an upgrade on the data; or they can choose No if they want those files in the existing Ppart directory overwritten.

Enhancement: Add the version of Medisoft and Medisoft Clinical to the list of items to install on the unified installer.
The Select Components window shows the version of each program that will be installed.

Correction: the installer has issues if there are spaces or periods in the source path.
If users extracted the ISO file on the installation DVD onto their desktop in a way that created spaces or periods in the path name, the installation would fail. This has been corrected.

Enhancement: Install needs to handle temp folder files being deleted on reboot.
The program has been updated so that files that are needed for completing the installation are not placed in the Temp folder and deleted when the computer reboots. Now, these files are stored more permanently and the installation completes as expected.

Enhancement: conversion is taking hours or days to complete.
This service pack includes updates to a program that will reduce the conversion time.

Correction: Error stating that 9.4 or 9.4.1 must be installed in order to install 9.5.1. However, 9.4 is the only version that has ever been installed on the machine.
This service pack corrects an issue where the installer does not recognize the existence of release 9.4 on the computer and throws an error message and stops the installation. The installer has been updated to recognize the appropriate registry keys.

Correction: Error 29509--Unable to execute fixppsqpre.exe when attempting to install the server.
On occasion, users were receiving this error when attempting to upgrade. The installer has been updated to fix this.

Correction: Communications Manager is getting an error when old Patient Chart ID has an apostrophe.

This issue has been resolved in this service pack. Old patient Chart IDs with apostrophes will not be transmitted to Practice Partner without error.

Correction: Medisoft Clinical DVD should include PPConnect.exe instead of PPConnect.msi.
The DVD contents have been updated so that PPConnect.exe is available instead of PPConnect.msi. This change will allow users to install multiple instances of PPConnect.

Enhancement: Add three new BillFlash files to the custom report list.
The following three BillFlash reports were added to the Custom Report List: BillFlash ms1-p v17 BillFlash ms3-p v17 BillFlash ms5-p v17

Enhancement: Medisoft Clinical DVD and AutoRun menu should include PP Remote Connect Client.
The user can now install PP Remote Connect Client from the Medisoft Clinical Add-Ons submenu in the Autorun menu.

Correction: Error 6303 when trying to edit a scheduled task that has run.
After users have run the Task Scheduler and checked eligibility, they might receive the following error when they try to edit the task immediately after the run: Error 6303: Maximum Advantage Database Server connections exceeded.
This error also will occur using the Auto Scheduler.
To fix this, users must either create a file called ads.ini or add information to the existing file. To create this file

3. In Notepad, type

6. In the Save as type field, select All Files.
7. In the File Name field type ads.ini.

8. Click Save.
9. Then, close Notepad.
If this file already exists in the Bin folder, open it using Notepad and add the two lines from Step 3.
