Dibb Solution: First thing, check all firewall settings.  If you don't know how to configure your 3rd party firewall, don't just disable it, REMOVE IT and then configure the Windows Firewall.

Dibb Solutions:  From a client workstation, browse to the Medidata sub-folder where the practice data is located and attempt to create a NEW practice.  Medisoft will then tell you that data already exists in that folder and asks if you would like to open that data.  Click "YES".

Problem:
The error Data does not exist, select a different set of data generally indicates that an error occurred when creating the root data directory for Medisoft.

Dibb Solution:

1. Log on to the server and create a backup of the practice data. If installing a new practice, this step is not necessary.

2. Right-click on the Start button and click Explore.

3. Click on the C:\ drive.

4. Click on File, New, and select Folder.

5. When the new folder is created, press the F2 key and name it Medidata.

6. Right-click on the Medidata folder and click Sharing.

7. Once the folder is shared on the server, hold down the [F7] key and double-click on the Medisoft icon.

8. You will now be asked to enter the path for the root data directory. Type in the following without parentheses: \\(server name)\MediData. If the server name is unknown, right-click on My Computer and select Properties; the network name of the server will be listed on the Identification tab.

9. Press Enter.

10. Click Yes when the following appears: This is not an existing root data directory, would you like to create it?

11. In the dialog box, click Create New Data when asked: Do you want to create new data or convert existing data?

12. Enter the practice name and the data path. Both fields must be completed with a preferred name and data path. (Hint: For the Practice Name, enter something identifiable to the practice, such as the last name or the first 5 or 6 letters of the practice name.)

13. Click on the Create button and enter the practice information. If restoring a backup, click the cancel button and skip this step.

14. After you have completed step 13, click on File and select Restore Backup. Follow the prompts to restore the backup made in step 1. 15. Once the backup is restored, repeat steps 7, 8, and 9 on each workstation.
Resolution

Note: It is not necessary to check the name of each computer as the path setup in step 8 will be the same for all workstations.
