Medisoft Upgrade "How to Tips"
So you're considering upgrading Medisoft or you've already taken the step to upgrade your practice to Medisoft 17, congratulations!
Are you feeling a little lost and wondering what to do next? We want to make sure everyone knows what to look out for when upgrading so there will no "surprises". Some VARs will simply sell you an upgrade and wait for your panic call later, we want to let you know upfront what to look out for.
Follow these steps to have a seamless upgrade transition:
Step 1: Check out "Medisoft Upgrade Pricing" to see how much it will cost. Remember if you are more than two versions behind the latest you can still upgrade but you don't get the best discounts.
Step 2: Read the "What's new in Medisoft?" guide.
Step 3: Make sure your computers meet the "Medisoft System Requirements".
Step 4: Convert your data. Note that this process is normally an automatic process, but if for some reason your data won't convert automatically (because of data corruption, etc), we can do it for you at the data repair rate of $350.00. This ensures all your data is upgraded without issue. Again, normally there is no charge for this step unless there are data corruption issues with your current practice data.
Step 5: If you are upgrading from a Medisoft version 15 or lower, you will need to "update the Provider, Facility, and Practice grids". You can do this yourself, or we will be happy to walk you through this for a flat rate of $200.00, and can usually do it in few hours.
If you are doing electronic billing with a clearinghouse such as RelayHealth, Availity, Realmed, Navicure, Caprio, etc, you will need to setup the new Medisoft RevenueManagement with version 17. We can do this for a flat rate of $300.00 per EDI receiver. (most clients use only one receiver).
Step 7: If you are upgrading from a Medisoft verison 12 or lower, you will need to change from the "HCFA-1500 to CMS-1500 for printing claims".
Step 8: Some clients get the "Field PIN missing" error, make sure you're using the original new 1500 form that comes with Medisoft 17.
