Medisoft Utilities Power Tools

Power Tools is an application that allows users to globally modify individual chart numbers, insurance codes, or procedure codes in a single practice. Users launch the utility from Medisoft Utilities and then select the appropriate practice. When the utility launches, users select Change Charts, Change Insurance, or Change Procedure Code tab and use the controls on the tab to select either a chart number, an insurance code, or a procedure code to change/update.

The tabs (Change Charts, Change Insurance, and Change Procedure) that control the windows in the utility are located in the upper left section of the application and the Close button, used to exit the utility, is located in the lower right section of the window. The path to the practice data appears under the three tabs in the upper left section of the window.

Sorting and Filtering Options

Users can sort the data displayed on the Change Charts, Change Insurance, Change Procedure Code tabs by clicking any of the column headings on the data display list.

Users can also use the Only show bad values check box to filter the list to only display records with an errors. When this check box is selected, the application searches for and displays records that have the following characters or values in the chart number or insurance code field:

Change Chart Numbers

The Change Charts tab contains controls to change practice chart numbers. Users can review the various chart numbers in a practice and then click a specific chart number to first select it and then use the new default chart number, supplied by the application, or enter a new number in the New Chart field, located in the lower left section of the window. The default value, supplied by the application, is the next available code that matches the standard format.

Change Insurance Codes

The Change Insurance tab contains controls to change practice insurance codes. Users can review the various insurance codes in a practice and then click a specific insurance code to first select it and then use the new default code, supplied by the application, or enter a code in the New Insurance ID field, located in the lower left section of the window. The default value, supplied by the application, is the next available code that matches the standard format.

Change Procedure Codes

The Change Procedure Code tab contains controls to change practice procedure codes. Users can review the various procedure codes in a practice and then click a specific procedure code to first select it and then enter a code in the New Procedure Code field, located in the lower left section of the window.

Making and Saving Changes

Once a chart number, insurance code, or procedure code is selected and the changed, users click the Change button, located in the lower right section of the window to complete the action. As needed, users can update other chart numbers in the open practice or exit the utility and select another practice to update.

Users can also correct on Change Chart and Change Insurance Codes tabs all invalid chart numbers or insurance codes by using the Fix All option. The Fix All button is unavailable until the Only show bad values check box is selected. Click the Fix All button on the tab to correct all invalid chart numbers or insurance codes with the utility providing new default values.

To Change Chart Numbers

In the Medisoft Utilities window, click Power Tools in the Utilities tree.
The right-hand side of the window will give a description of the utility. Click OK to begin the process.
A backup warning will open. Click Backup Data Now to make a back up of the practice. Click Continue w/o Backup to skip the backup.
Once the backup is complete or if you do not make the backup, the Power Tools window opens.
Click the Change Charts tab to select this window.

Option: Click the Only show bad values checkbox to filter the list and only display records with an error in the chart number. After reviewing the data, either go to step 6 to change entries as needed or click Fix All to change all invalid chart numbers.
On the Chart Number field select the appropriate chart number to change. The chart number is highlighted in blue.
On the New Chart field enter an appropriate chart number or use the default value, supplied by the application.
Click the Change button. As needed, change other chart numbers in the open practice.

To Change Insurance Codes

In the Medisoft Utilities window, click Power Tools in the Utilities tree.
